Stutters Disaster Kleenup began its operations in Kelowna, British Columbia in 1982 under the name Stutters Construction Co Ltd. Keith Stutters, the founder and C.E.O. of Stutters, two of Keith's brothers, and a few others were the original crew who began a business of disaster restoration in and around Kelowna. Stutters built its reputation, resources, and its body of core personel in Kelowna until 1995 when it became feasible to offer services and skills in other areas of the Okanagan Valley. The company began operations in Vernon in 1995 and in Penticton in 1996.
In 1998, Stutters joined Disaster Kleenup International, or Disaster Kleenup Canada (DKC) in Canada, a North American association of restoration specialists and professionals. DKC is Canada's largest emergency response organization and handles more than 60,000 claims each year for the insurance industry alone. DKC's unique structure allows member companies, such as Stutters, to pool resources, expertise, and technology. DKC members must meet the highest professional requirements in the industry, and adhere to a set of Professional Standards and Ethics, which Stutters upholds with pride and honor.
