Practice Your Fire Drill

Everyone should have a fire drill plan for at home, and at work. The best way to ensure that everyone understands what should happen in the event of a fire is to practice. A plan should be in place so that everyone knows where to meet up after escaping the fire, and a head count can be done.

At Home

Plan with your children and have them give their input so that they are just as invested in the plan to safety. Allow your children to hear the smoke alarm so that the know the sound (great time to test the batteries). Don’t forget to have a plan in place for your furry family members as well.

At Work blank

The Health & Safety committee should have a plan in place for the safe evacuation of all staff. If your place of work doesn’t have a Health & Safety committee, make sure that a plan is in place where you will all meet up in case of an emergency so that you can account for everyone, to ensure everyone has made it out safely.

In the stressful event of a fire, people will react differently. Some will take control, while others may panic, and start gathering unnecessary belonging to bring with them. The most important valuable is yourself and your family. Material items can be replaced.
