Asbestos Abatement & Removal
Asbestos is a naturally-occurring material that was used throughout the 20th century as a valuable construction resource. Since the late 1990’s however, it has been banned due to its health concerns. If inhaled asbestos can cause asbestosis or mesothelioma to name a couple, both of which can be fatal. When it comes to handling Asbestos, Stutters Disaster Kleenup is the company to call.
Types of asbestos remediation we handle:
Asbestos siding remediation
Asbestos siding was a durable and fire resistant product used in homes around the 1920s until 1980s. The siding was available in a wide variety of sizes, shapes, and textures. If you own a home or considering purchasing one that has damaged siding call us for an inspection and available options in dealing with it.
Asbestos in stucco and plaster
These materials may look like ordinary plaster that was sprayed-on, troweled-on or applied to surfaces for a particular application and finish
Asbestos in pipe insulation remediation
Pipe Insulation: Asbestos pipe insulation looks white, chalky, and is wrapped in a thin canvas. Another type looks like corrugated paper wrapped with tape or paper that has been cut to fit around the pipes.
Window frames with asbestos in putty
Did you know that asbestos was added to the putty around the windows and frames? This putty was used for sealing, added strength and fire resistance.
Hot Air Furnace Asbestos Heat Shield Gasket
The heat shield gasket is suspended between the metal face plate and the furnace box. Some of these older heat shield gaskets are made up of 30% chrysotile asbestos.
Asbestos Ceiling Tile Removal
It has been reported that some ceiling tiles and acoustic ceiling tiles manufactured prior to 1990 may contain asbestos particles. If you are in an older home or concerned about the age of your ceiling tiles call and have them tested to protect the occupants of the building.
Asbestos tile remediation (floor, sheet floor, and ceiling)
Asbestos flooring was very common in older homes, especially in kitchens and bathrooms. The popularity of household asbestos materials rose in the mid-20th century as the products were resistant to heat, fire, chemical, and biological breakdown
Watch for Asbestos While Renovating your Basement
Asbestos attic remediation
Vermiculite attic installation was common in Canadian homes up until the 1990s. This type of insulation lies flat and firm in the joist cavity, as opposed to loose-fill fiberglass which tends to puff up above the joists. If your attic insulation looks similar then there is a strong possibility it may be contaminated with asbestos. Also check to make sure the previous home owner didn’t add regular fiberglass insulation over the harmful vermiculite.
Asbestos in Mechanical Rooms – Asbestos can be found in the pipes, ducts, heaters and boilers.
Asbestos paper wrapped and tape ducts
Planning on renovating your home or business? Check for paper wrapped or taped heating ducts that could contain asbestos fibers.
Stutters follows a strict procedure when working with asbestos and is an environmentally friendly company.
Step one: Stutters employees will set up a containment area by using poly to seal in the contaminants.
Step two: Our crews suit up and wear special breathing equipment to carry out the removal process.
Step three: We then purify the air with HEPA filters before it goes back into the environment.
